This is a horror game heavily inspired in Slender: The Eight Pages. Swamp Sim Horror is a first-person horror game which doesn't only fail to offer anything new, but also repeats only what other games have done better. Slender: The Eight Pages, originally known simply as Slender, is a free download indie-developed first-person survival horror video game released in June 2012 as a beta for Microsoft Windows and OS X, utilizing the Unity engine. For this reason, you should probably play with the volume turned down low. The scary parts of Swamp Sim Horror are exactly what you'd expect: forced scares when Shrek's face fills the screen combined with very loud sounds. In other games, you might have to collect pages from a diary, for example, but in Swamp Sim Horror, you have to pick onions. The game is very similar to other games of this type: you begin in a dark forest, and you have to collect eight objects while the terrifying creature lurks around. As if that isn't ridiculous enough, as you try to escape, you have to listen to his monologues about onions. Paradoxical, and a little frustrating – especially if you are keen to get a glimpse of what you're meant to be running away from.Swamp Sim Horror is a first-person 'slender game.' In it, instead of running away from Slender Man or other terrifying creatures, you have to run away from Shrek. There is a strange paradox in that the only way to stop the relentless onslaught of the Slender Man is to look at him, but if you look at him for too long you will die. The sense of threat and anticipation is built upon through the clever use of soundscapes. While there is an element of fear to the game, the sense of challenge is diminished by the fact that there is only one enemy to avoid – and the original Slender Man stories are far more terrifying than anything game manages to conjure up. There are effectively eight levels to work through and there is no real variety in what you need to do - the difficulty level just increases. Yes, there is the element of suspense to make things a little more interesting, but at its heart, this is an incredibly simple game with very limited gameplay. Unfortunately, to cut to the chase, it's a bit boring.
