Problem with feature packed software is, that each company tries to put in as much as possible, because if not.
in my opiinion, Enscape is one of the best. While all the realtime applications can´t compare to vrays realism, they all come in handy and fast on the other side of the workflow… in usability and speed of configuration. Let’s see if Blender support increases, and if UE support decreases in the future. If VRAY were available on Blender it would be a great move for Chaos! If Chaos made this update, it would be an excellent way to move files and lighting between software, and would also increase the demand for renting their entire suite. I was also hoping that VRAY would be updated finally to support the latest Blender… but it seems Chaos hasn’t made any updates on this front. But it seems that since VRAY is writing custom packets of data to USD format, it seems technically feasible to add more robust support between packages. Clearly no modifiers would be transferrable, but rather geometry and whatever else USD can transmit.
That would be immensely helpful if a scene could be modeled and shaded with VRAY and then sent to MAYA, or even Blender to pass scenes back and forth. I had been hoping that VRAY would be a bridge between all 3D packages by using USD file format, because in recent releases of (VRAY, MAYA and MAX), VRAY has been able to send custom info to Maya and 3DS MAX.
How well does Enscape handle interactivity? This move to merge with Enscape would put Chaos in a better place with respect to real-time applications. My hypothesis is that VRAY is perhaps becoming less important within Unreal Engine, since Lumen is such an advancement in real-time lighting.
